Which is more evil: the extremist who alienates people from the rulings of Sharia, or the one who does not care about applying Sharia and wants to live like Westerners? And who is closer to inclining towards the moderation followed by the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in the view of Sharia?

The Sunnah represents a middle ground between excess and negligence. One who magnifies the rulings of the Sacred Law is better than one who gives them no weight, even if their magnification involves rigidity or error. In such a case, they should be advised and made to understand that their approach might alienate people from the religion. They will respond once the truth becomes clear to them, so long as they possess a fundamental reverence for the Sacred Law and submission to it.
