Is the trust concerning the prohibition of operating the television at the workplace to be understood as related to the intention (i.e., my not watching it), or to the wording (i.e., not operating it at all, even if someone else operates it and I watch it)?

Residing in non-Muslim countries and watching television have been detailed in previous fatwas. Regarding the manager prohibiting the TV from being turned on: It is not permissible to watch forbidden channels, whether the manager permits it or not. If the channels are permissible:

1. If turning on the TV is during agreed-upon working hours: The manager has the right to prohibit you.

2. If turning on the TV is outside of the agreed-upon working hours (such as in your accommodation after work): You are permitted to turn it on, and the manager does not have the right to prohibit you.
