What is meant by belief in the Messengers?

Belief in the Messengers involves four matters: Firm conviction that Allah sent to every nation a Messenger inviting them to worship Him alone, and that they are truthful, pious, and trustworthy, and that they conveyed the message of monotheism upon which there was agreement, despite the variations in the subsidiary laws. And whoever disbelieves in one of them has disbelieved in all of them. Belief in those whose names we know in detail, and in those whose names we do not know in general, and to believe that their seal is Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and that Allah favored him and distinguished him with great characteristics. And believing in what is authentically reported about their stories. And acting upon the Sharia of our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, because he was sent to all people. The fruits of belief in the Messengers include knowing Allah's mercy and thanking Him, and loving and venerating the Messengers.
