Is there proof that one who abandons prayer is not an infidel?

If one who abandons prayer denies its obligation, then he is an infidel by consensus. However, if he abandons it out of laziness, his infidelity is a matter of dispute among scholars. The majority of scholars, who do not consider one who abandons prayer out of laziness to be an infidel, base their arguments on general evidence that rules one who says "there is no god but Allah" to be a Muslim, and that whoever enters Islam with certainty does not exit it except with certainty.
