Is it obligatory to repay debts incurred from buying khat, knowing that the seller uses these funds for buying and selling khat, and what is the ruling on consuming khat?

Scholars previously differed concerning the ruling on qat, but today they are in agreement regarding its prohibition due to the harm it causes.

If something is prohibited, its price is also prohibited, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, if Allah prohibits something, He prohibits consuming its price." Based on this, the price of qat is prohibited, and its transaction is void.

However, if the contract was entered into based on the understanding that qat is permissible, or if that was the accepted ruling in that country, then one must fulfill the rights owed to the owner, especially if failure to fulfill them would result in greater harm or corruption.

Nevertheless, the price does not become permissible for the seller because it is ill-gotten; rather, he must dispose of it and give it away in charity.
