It is permissible to pray four rak'ahs before Asr, due to the narration of the hadith: "May Allah have mercy on a person who prays four rak'ahs before Asr," and this is a hasan (good) hadith. Some scholars have authenticated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed them. Therefore, these rak'ahs can be added to the other regular sunnah prayers: two rak'ahs after Dhuhr, two rak'ahs after Maghrib, two rak'ahs after Isha, and two rak'ahs before Fajr.
