What is the evidence from the Qur’an and the Sunnah that ingratitude for blessings necessitates their removal?

Among the proofs that gratitude increases blessings is the saying of Allah the Almighty: "And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.'" (Ibrahim: 7). Ibn Kathir interpreted the verse to mean that gratitude for blessings increases them, while denying them leads to their removal and punishment.
