The answer

What the wife did by introducing foreign sperm is a grave abomination and a betrayal. She must repent. The husband must disown this child through li'an (oath of condemnation). Slander is obligatory for the husband if he sees his wife committing adultery, and he must disown the child if that is considered certain. Ibn Qudamah said: "If he does not disown him, the child will be attributed to him, inherit from him, and his relatives will inherit from him and he from them. He will look at his daughters and sisters (as non-mahram), and that is not permissible. So disowning him is obligatory to remove that." Al-Ramli said: "He is obliged to disown him, otherwise, by his silence, he would be claiming as his own one who is not from him." The li'an is limited to disowning the child, so the husband swears four times that the child is not his, and the fifth time that the curse of Allah be upon him if he is among the liars. The wife does not swear if she confesses her crime. In that case, the child is not attributed to the husband, nor is he obligated to support him. The child is given a general name, and the mother is responsible for his care, and they inherit from each other.
