What is the ruling on orthodontic treatment, even though Allah Almighty created humankind in the best of forms?

The noble verse (We have certainly created man in the best of stature) means that Allah created man in the most excellent form and shape, balanced and upright, with perfectly proportioned limbs. This does not preclude dental treatment and orthodontics if done to remove a defect or deformity, and not merely for adornment or beautification. This is because the forbidden alteration of Allah's creation is that which aims to increase beauty, whereas that which aims to remove a defect or harm is permissible. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, permitted the use of a nose made of gold for someone whose nose was severed, in order to remove the defect.
