What is the correct way to deal with a daughter's emotional distance from her mother, which resulted from the mother's refusal to financially assist her in preparing her wedding trousseau, especially after the mother contracted liver disease, and given the daughter's sadness over the loss of affection?

The mother's right is very great, and honoring her and being dutiful to her are among the greatest acts of closeness to Allah. What the mother did by withholding the money is not an injustice if the money is her own. It is not obligatory for her to prepare her daughter for marriage; rather, that is among the husband's duties. A woman should ease her own mind and not let Satan drag her into disobeying her mother, especially since the mother is ill. Patience with her and honoring her are better than the world and all that is in it.
