What is the way to restore the satisfaction of a mother who refuses to communicate and prevents her siblings from speaking, after a dispute over money given to her to help her, as she believes she has a right over her daughter due to what she spent on her, while the daughter fears death or that her mother will die while angry?
If a mother beats her daughter and seizes her money, she is a wrongdoer and an oppressor. However, this does not negate the mother's right to dutifulness and obedience in what is good. Therefore, the daughter must repent to Allah for what she has done towards her mother, apologize to her, and strive to please her. She is not obligated to return what her mother spent on her in her childhood, nor is she obligated to give her from her surplus wealth what she does not need. She must continuously maintain ties with her and strive to please her, and intercede through someone whose word is accepted to gain her forgiveness. If she fulfills her obligations towards her in terms of dutifulness and kindness, then her mother's anger or curses will not harm her thereafter.
