What is the recompense for a father and mother who cut ties with their daughter and verbally abuse her because she did not side with them against her husband?

It is not permissible for parents to disown their daughter without a legitimate reason, as severing ties of kinship is a grave sin. They are not to be obeyed if they command their daughter to mistreat her husband, because the husband's right is greater, and "her husband has more authority over her than her parents, and obedience to her husband is more obligatory upon her." The rights of parents to dutifulness and obedience in what is good do not diminish, for honoring them is among the greatest causes of Allah's pleasure, and disobeying them is among the greatest of grave sins.
