What is the ruling on a Muslim bequeathing less than a third of his wealth to a non-Muslim, and is it permissible for a Muslim to accept a non-Muslim's bequest of wealth?

The jurists agree on the validity of a Muslim's bequest to a Dhimmi and vice-versa, citing the Qur’an and the fact that disbelief does not prevent ownership. Some Shafi'is validate it only for a specific Dhimmi. The Malikis permit a Muslim's bequest to a Dhimmi if it is for the purpose of maintaining kinship ties; otherwise, it is disliked.
