Why did the Prophet (peace be upon him and his Household) not interpret the Quran, leaving the Ummah in perplexity and disagreement? And why did Allah not reveal decisive texts on fundamental matters such as His attributes, leaving the issue to the ijtihad of scholars, whose opinions are not a حجت?

The disagreement among the Companions and those who came after them regarding specific, detailed matters was a permissible disagreement. This is unlike the disagreement concerning the attributes of Allah among the Sunnis, the Mu'tazilah, and the Ash'aris; that disagreement is blameworthy and preceded by the consensus of the early Muslims (Salaf). Allah is described with all that He described Himself with or that His Prophet described Him with. He has two real, non-injurious Hands, and the earth will be in His grasp on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand. He is above His heavens, upon His Throne, and He has a Footstool (Kursi) below the Throne. The believers will see their Lord on the Day of Resurrection with the eyes of their faces. The people of innovation (Ahl al-Bid'ah) denied many of these attributes despite the clarity of the texts. The reason for this disagreement was not due to the lack of clarity in the texts, but rather due to following whims and philosophical methodologies.
