Does reading the Qur’an in separate and non-consecutive sittings not count as a complete ختمة (recitation)?

The default method for completing the recitation of the Qur'an (khatm al-Qur'an) is to read it in order, from Al-Fatihah to An-Nas, as mentioned in the hadith (definition) of "the traveler who keeps moving." Nevertheless, a complete recitation is considered a khatm even if it is not in the order of the Mus'haf. Therefore, continuous recitation is not a condition for a khatm, and a person may read what is easy for them and then return to reading whenever they have the opportunity.
