Are repeated sins after repentance evidence of its invalidity and a lack of resolve? What is the ruling on what happened with the doctor and its expiation? How can one please Allah and meet Him with a clean slate? Is the one who repents from a sin like one who has no sin?

The one who commits a sin must offer sincere repentance. If the sin is repeated, repentance is obligatory after each instance, and its repetition does not indicate a lack of sincerity in the repentance. One must not despair of Allah's mercy. There is no expiation for a sin except repentance, and one should increase good deeds. It has been reported that the one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. The cause of falling into sin is complacency in being alone with a man, for khalwa (definition) (private seclusion) is a trap for Satan. One must resolve not to enable him to be alone, avoid training with him, and sever all ties with him.
