What is the ruling on a woman who entered into a state of Ihram for Umrah while menstruating, then engaged in all acts with her husband except intercourse, and after she became pure, she entered into Ihram and performed Umrah? Is expiation (kaffarah) required of her, what is its amount, and is it permissible to postpone it?

One who allowed her husband to engage in intimacy while she was in a state of ihram must repent to Allah Almighty. She is not required to renew her ihram.

She must offer a sheep to be slaughtered in Mecca and distributed among the poor of the Haram, or alternatively, feed six needy persons (half a saa' for each), or fast for three days. This is the same as the fidyah for harm (fidyat al-adha).

If the husband was also in a state of ihram, another sheep becomes obligatory upon him.

The ritual (nusuk) is not invalidated by intimate contact with desire, but a fidyah (expiation) becomes obligatory.

If ejaculation occurs, she must offer a camel according to the Hanbalis, and a sheep according to the Shafi'is.
