What is the ruling on importing and using products that contain hydrolyzed collagen extracted from cattle of unknown status, meaning whether it was slaughtered according to Islamic law or was already dead?

Collagen is a protein substance found in humans and animals, and it has medicinal, cosmetic, and industrial benefits. If collagen is extracted from an animal that has been ritually slaughtered (dhabīḥah), it is pure (ṭāhir) and permissible (ḥalāl). However, if it is extracted from a dead animal (maytah) or an unslaughtered animal, it is impure (najis) and unlawful (ḥarām) to consume or sell, unless the substance undergoes a complete transformation (istiḥālah) into another substance with different properties. If this transformation does not occur, the collagen remains impure, and gelatin shares the same ruling.
