A woman divorced thrice is not lawful for her former husband until she marries another husband a marriage of desire, and he consummates the marriage with her, and then he separates from her. It is not permissible for either the husband or the wife to circumvent the Sacred Law through what is called "tahlil marriage"; this is when a man marries her with the intention of making her lawful for her first husband, whether this is through an explicit agreement or an intention on the part of the second husband. This marriage is forbidden, invalid, and its perpetrator is cursed, and it does not make her lawful for the first husband.
