What are the types of permissible drawing, and is abstract drawing forbidden even if it does not include physical details?

Depicting living beings is forbidden, whether it is a sculpture or a drawing, an engraving, or what is called abstract art, and whether it is on a canvas, a wall, or clothing. The preponderant opinion is that it is not permissible to depict living beings if the head is present, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "The image is the head, so if the head is cut off, there is no image."
