This form of supplication (du'a') is an innovation (bid'ah) because it is not a legislated supplication and involves addressing that which has no intellect. Furthermore, it contains an innovative oath sworn upon a creature that has no intellect, and unlawful intercession (tawassul). Supplication is an act of worship that is not legislated except through a text. A Muslim must emulate the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in supplications and remembrances.
