What is the ruling on a woman wearing gold and adornments when she goes out to the street or to work?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible for a woman to wear gold and adornments, based on the Almighty’s saying: "Or is it one who is brought up in adornment while in dispute he is not clear?" and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Gold and silk have been made lawful for the females of my Ummah and forbidden for its males." However, she must conceal her adornment from non-mahram men, based on the Almighty’s saying: "And not display their adornment except what appears thereof." And she must cover her face, hands, and any jewelry on them in front of non-mahram men, especially in these times when corruption has become widespread.
