What is the ruling on the wording of seeking forgiveness: "I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty, Whom there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I repent to Him, (forgiveness) equal to the number of His creation, and the extent of His pleasure, and the weight of His Throne, and the ink of His words, for me and for all Muslim men and women, and believing men and women, those who are alive and those who are dead"?

The stated form of seeking forgiveness (istighfar) is permissible and has no objection, but it is better to stick to the forms authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, such as: "Astaghfirullah al-Azim al-ladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum wa atubu ilaih" (I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Magnificent, whom there is no god worthy of worship except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer, and I repent to Him). There is also encouragement to seek forgiveness for believing men and believing women.
