What is the ruling on drawing images of birds, animals, and the like on carpets and rugs?

Pictures of animals are prohibited based on texts that warn against them, such as "Every image-maker will be in the Hellfire," and "Indeed, the people who will receive the severest punishment on the Day of Resurrection are those who make these images." Therefore, it is not permissible to draw pictures of birds and animals on carpets and rugs. However, if pictures are already present on them, it is permissible to use them if they are treated disrespectfully, and the sin falls upon the one who made the image.
