Is abstaining from prayer for a period during college, while reciting the two Shahadas out of fear of disbelief, considered an apostasy from the religion, and does this entail making up the missed prayers?

Scholars differed concerning the excommunication (takfir) of one who abandons prayer out of laziness. The preponderant opinion according to us is that it does not constitute disbelief (kufr). It is obligatory to maintain prayer at its prescribed times and to repent for what has been missed. The majority of scholars are of the opinion that missed prayers must be made up.
