What is the ruling on a girl remaining in wait for a young man with whom she had agreed to marry, when their relationship has been severed until his financial affairs become easier, and must the young man inform her not to wait, knowing that she is refusing suitors because of him?

One should take the initiative to marry the girl whom the young man has stopped corresponding with. If marriage is not immediately feasible, then he should propose to her guardian. If an agreement is reached, she should wait for him until his affairs become easy, while keeping in mind that she remains a stranger to him, and he is not permitted to mix with her except within the bounds of Islamic law. However, if no agreement is reached, he should leave her to her own affairs.
