What is the sign between us and Allah, Almighty and Majestic? Is it the baring of the leg? And what is the proof for this from the Qur’an and the Sunnah?

The authentic Sunnah states that the sign between a servant and his Lord on the Day of Judgment is the uncovering of the shin, as narrated in the agreed-upon hadiths of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and Abu Sa'id al-Khudri. This meaning is the most preferred interpretation of the verse: "The Day a shin will be uncovered and they will be called to prostrate, but they will not be able." This is because the interpretation of the Qur'an by hadith takes precedence over other interpretations. Some scholars, like Ibn Abbas, have held that "shin" refers to hardship, but the hadith takes precedence over other interpretations, especially in Imam Bukhari's narration: "Our Lord will uncover a shin."
