If breastfeeding is not possible, the orphan can be raised until adolescence, after which they can live separately from the family. There is no sin upon the wife if she does not assist her husband in raising the orphan. The husband's sponsorship of the orphan solely through financial means is rewarded, even if it is less than full sponsorship.
