Is acquiring knowledge for the purpose of teaching and intensifying that knowledge sound?
The seeker of knowledge must seek it as pure worship of Allah, hoping for nothing but His pleasure; otherwise, knowledge will be a burden upon him. For whoever learns knowledge, teaches it, and recites the Quran so that it may be said of him that he is a scholar or a reciter, will be dragged on his face into the Fire. Sincerity is a condition for the acceptance of knowledge, and this does not contradict seeking knowledge to teach people or to become a religious scholar. As for issuing fatwas, one should not issue a fatwa unless they are knowledgeable or merely transmitting the fatwa as it is, without alteration.
