What is the difference between knowing the creed and the science of the creed?

The science of creed (ilm al-aqida) is one of the Islamic sciences concerned with matters of belief (both fundamental and subsidiary), providing evidence for them, and refuting those who deviate. As for knowledge of the creed (ilm bi al-aqida), it is a Muslim's understanding of it.
