Are these obsessive thoughts about the Divine Essence and the Messenger – may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – which compel me to interrupt my prayer and make me feel that Allah is angry with me, and cause me to wish for the loss of my sight or paralysis instead of them, from me or from Satan? And am I considered an apostate? And what should I do if they are from me?

The Muslim who experiences waswas (whispers from Satan) should resist it by distracting himself, seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan, and diligently reciting the Qur'an and adhkar (remembrances), alongside supplication and humble entreaty to Allah. If waswas occurs during prayer, one should not interrupt the prayer but instead seek refuge in Allah. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that waswas afflicts everyone who turns to Allah, and the servant must remain firm, be patient, and adhere to dhikr and prayer, because by the servant's focus on dhikr and prayer, Satan will turn away from him. Satan is like a highway robber; whenever a servant desires to journey towards Allah, Satan wishes to obstruct his path. It was said to some of the predecessors that Jews and Christians do not experience waswas, and he replied: "They spoke the truth, for what would Satan do with a ruined house?"
