Is a doctor required to do anything after the death of a patient following the administration of a sedative, when the doctor does not know the patient's family?

The responsibility of a doctor for medical error is determined by specialists. If a medical committee decides that the procedure performed by the doctor was incorrect, expiation becomes binding on him, and the blood money (diyya) is borne by his 'aqila (male kin on the father's side). However, if the committee deems that the doctor did not err, then nothing is binding upon him. Therefore, the matter should be presented to the administration to form a specialized committee to examine it.
