What are the books that compile all the commands, obligations, Sunnah acts, and recommended acts in worship, and the books that compile all the prohibitions, forbidden acts, and disliked acts in the religion?

Commands and prohibitions constitute the entirety of the religion. Their source is not only the revealed texts, but also includes other methods for their extraction, as elucidated by Imam Al-Shafi'i, such as: explicit texts, what the Prophetic Sunnah clarifies, what the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) legislated for which no text was revealed, and what ijtihad (independent reasoning) necessitates.

Ibn Rajab also explained that understanding commands and prohibitions can be obscure, and the indication of texts concerning them occurs in several ways: explicit statement, generality, fahwa (inference by common cause/analogy of the stronger kind), mafhum al-mukhalafah (inference by contra-distinction), and qiyas (analogy). Whatever is devoid of all of these is pardoned.

To facilitate access to these commands and prohibitions, scholars have classified them in specialized academic books:

1. Books of Creed (Aqidah): For what pertains to belief, including commands and prohibitions, such as Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab's book "Kitab al-Tawhid" and its commentary "Al-Qawl al-Mufid" by Ibn Uthaymeen. 2. Books of Jurisprudence (Fiqh): For what pertains to acts of worship and transactions, such as Al-Sa'di's "Manhaj al-Salikin" and "Al-Fiqh al-Muyassar." 3. Books of Manners (Adab), Remembrances (Adhkar), and Heart-Softeners (Raqaiq): Such as "Al-Adhkar" and "Riyadh al-Salihin" by Al-Nawawi (with its commentary by Ibn Uthaymeen), and "Al-Targhib wal-Tarhib" by Al-Mundhiri.

One can also benefit from Al-Albani's "Sahih al-Jami' al-Saghir," and books such as "Al-Awamir wal-Nawahi al-Irshadiyyah fi al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah" and Abu Bakr Al-Jaza'iri's "Nida'at al-Rahman li Ahl al-Iman."
