Could you give an example of the fundamentals in understanding the Prophetic Sunnah?

To understand the Sunnah, one must have knowledge of the Arabic language, knowledge of the reasons for the Hadith's occurrence, knowledge of the abrogating and abrogated Hadith, knowledge of Hadith terminology to discern what can be used as evidence and what cannot, and knowledge of the principles of jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) to understand the connotations of words and how to reconcile apparently conflicting Hadiths.
