Is it true, as I read on the Internet, that Yazid demolished the Kaaba?
When reading history, one must investigate its reliable sources. Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah did not demolish the Kaaba; rather, it was Ibn Az-Zubayr who demolished it to rebuild it anew, in the manner that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, desired it to be.
Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said to her: "O Aisha, were it not that your people are recent converts from disbelief, I would have ordered the House to be demolished, and then I would have included in it what was taken out of it, and made it level with the ground, and made for it two doors, one eastern and one western, and I would have made it reach the foundation of Ibrahim."
Ibn Az-Zubayr demolished the Kaaba out of reverence for it, intending to restore and rebuild it in the manner described by the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, to Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her.
