What is the meaning of "Al-Qatifah" and "Al-Khamisah" mentioned in the Hadith, and how can a Muslim avoid the characteristics mentioned therein?

Al-Qaṭīfah is: a garment with fringes. And Al-Khamīṣah is: a garment made of silk or wool, with a pattern. A Muslim avoids the reprehensible qualities mentioned in the Hadith by practicing asceticism (zuhd) in this world, and by severing the heart's attachment to it, which leads to complacency and reliance upon it, and preferring it over the Hereafter. This is in accordance with His, the Almighty’s, saying: "But you prefer the worldly life, while the Hereafter is better and more lasting."
