Is it permissible for a sister to receive treatment from male doctors specializing in IVF, with nurses present, given the unavailability of qualified female doctors at a reasonable price?

The preponderant opinion is the permissibility of artificial insemination using the husband's sperm and the wife's eggs, and implanting the fertilized egg in the wife's womb, provided certain conditions are met. These include: the woman should not expose her awrah (private parts) to a male doctor except out of necessity, such as when a skilled female doctor is unavailable, or if the female doctor's fee is unusually high. Furthermore, a mahram (definition), husband, or trustworthy woman must be present, and the doctor must be trustworthy, free from temptation, and only expose what is necessary.

The Islamic Fiqh Academy has permitted artificial insemination if the sperm is taken from the husband and injected into his wife's womb, and if this procedure is performed by a female doctor. If no female doctor is available, it is permissible for the husband, in emergencies, to take his sperm and inject it into his wife's womb. The Academy considered this type of insemination permissible, but with complete caution.

However, taking sperm from someone other than the husband and injecting it into the wife is prohibited by the consensus of Muslims.

Regarding the second scenario, which involves mixing the husband's sperm and the wife's eggs outside the womb and then injecting them into the wife's womb, the Academy permitted it by majority. However, this method is riskier, and some scholars have reserved judgment on it due to its risks.
