What is the fatwa regarding a wife concealing accumulated debts from her husband, after he had been controlling her salary, and she lied to him out of fear that he would prevent her from visiting her family, then the husband punishes her by preventing her from visiting her family as soon as he learns of the matter, knowing that the wife says: "I cannot not see my family, and I am certain that this is one of the priorities that must be done," and the wife fears that her actions will lead to her divorce?

It is permissible for a wife to borrow money without her husband's knowledge, provided it does not cause him harm; otherwise, she is obliged to consult him. The husband is obligated to allow his wife to visit her family without a valid reason for prevention. If the husband swore by divorce that his wife would not visit her family this year, then her visit would cause the divorce to occur, and he may take her back during her 'iddah (waiting period) unless she has been divorced three times previously. Some scholars hold that divorce does not occur if the husband intended only a threat, and in such a case, he must offer expiation for breaking an oath. Attention should be paid to the permissibility of dealing with credit cards. The husband is obliged to provide for his wife and children in a reasonable manner, and the wife is not obliged to spend from her own money unless there is a condition for it. It is advisable to fulfill the husband's oath and be patient regarding visiting family in order to maintain family stability.
