Is it permissible for a man to take back his divorced wife before consummation, or to marry her anew?

It is permissible for the ex-husband of a woman divorced before consummation or valid seclusion to marry her again. He is considered one of the suitors; if she wishes, she can accept him as a husband, and if she wishes, she can reject him. This is based on the Almighty's saying: "O you who have believed, when you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, then there is not for you any waiting period to count concerning them. So provide for them and give them a gracious release." (Al-Ahzab: 49). Thus, she has no waiting period to observe, and her husband has no right to take her back except through a new contract.
