Is there any report indicating a reduction of torment for Abu Lahab in the Fire?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The torment of the disbeliever will not be lightened in the Hereafter, because disbelief nullifies all good deeds. The righteous acts of disbelievers are rewarded only in this world, based on the words of Allah Almighty: (And for those who disbelieve will be the Fire of Hell. [Death] is not decreed for them, so they may die, nor will its torment be lightened for them), and His saying: (And We will approach what they did of deeds and make them as scattered dust). As for what is narrated about the lightening of punishment for Abu Lahab due to his freeing Thuwaybah, it is merely a dream vision with a mursal chain of transmission, and it does not contradict what has been established regarding the nullification of the good deeds of disbelievers, nor is it considered valid as legal evidence.
