How do we reconcile the saying of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "I was not sent as one who curses or reviles," with his supplication against Utbah ibn Abi Lahab that Allah would send one of His dogs upon him?

"Invoking a curse upon the son of Abu Lahab does not involve insult or imprecation. It has been narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'O Allah, set Your dog upon him,' and this was when Lahab, the son of Abu Lahab, was insulting the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Allah answered his supplication."
