Should one ask his father for money to pay for the expiation of an oath, or is it permissible to fast three days, if the son is 16 years old?

If a person has surplus money beyond his needs, he must pay the atonement for breaking an oath by feeding or clothing (the poor), and he must request his money if it is with someone else. However, if he does not possess more than what suffices him, he must fast for three days. He is not obliged to ask his father for money, and the father is not obliged to pay the atonement on behalf of his son except as a voluntary act. The atonement is only due if the swearer was an adult at the time of swearing, because the oath of a child is not binding.
