Is the husband entitled to give all the money saved for purchasing a home to his family, and refuse to provide for the basic needs of his wife and child on the pretext of lacking funds?

It is the wife's right upon her husband that he provide her with housing, and a servant if she is accustomed to having one, or if she needs one due to illness or the like. He is also obligated to spend on his child in a reasonable manner, including educational expenses. If the husband fulfills his obligations, then the wife has no right to object to his spending on his family. The wife may, with wisdom and without argument, request from him what is not obligatory upon him. The husband should be generous with his wife and children as much as possible. The obligatory rights of the wife and children take precedence over the husband's charity or his non-obligatory ties of kinship.
