Is it permissible to supplicate against one who has wronged me with words such as, "May Allah afflict you," or by saying, "O Allah, whoever intends ill for me and the Muslims, seize him with the seizure of an Almighty, All-Capable One"?

It is permissible for the oppressed to supplicate against the oppressor in kind, without transgression, based on His (Allah's) saying: "And if you punish [an enemy], then punish with an equivalent of that with which you were afflicted." Some scholars are of the opinion that it is better not to supplicate against the oppressor unless his oppression is widespread; in this case, it is preferable to supplicate against him so that Allah may remove his evil from the Ummah.
