Is it valid for a servant not to fear the pangs of death, even with his faith?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Fear of death and its intensity is a natural human instinct, and there is no evidence indicating the obligation to fear the pangs of death. As for the obligatory fear, it is the fear of Allah alone, as stated in His saying, the Almighty: "And fear Me, if you are [truly] believers" (Quran 3:175). It is obligatory to believe that death has pangs, as stated in His saying, the Almighty: "And the throes of death will come with truth; that is what you were trying to avoid" (Quran 50:19). Whoever denies anything from the Quran, even a single word, has committed an act of disbelief.
