A husband must be just between his wives in what is obligatory, such as lodging and maintenance. And it is recommended to be just between them in what exceeds the obligatory, to preserve affection and avoid conflict. The husband may take one of his wives to visit his family or her family, and he is not obligated to do so with the other as compensation. However, it is better for him to appease the other wife by going out with her if she desires it, to gain her affection.
