Extravagance varies from person to person, and donating for the sake of Allah is not considered a forbidden form of extravagance, especially with patience. It is permissible for a person to replace their clothes and give the old ones in charity, and there is no difference between household clothes or others. It is permissible for the wife to give a small amount in charity from her husband's money, or with his permission, just as it is permissible for her to give away the family's clothes in charity unless she knows of his disapproval, except for the clothes her husband likes to see her in.
