Is it permissible for a widow to leave her home during her waiting period (iddah) (four months and ten days) to attend to household needs, visit graves, visit the sick, and offer condolences, even if there are others who can do these things for her?

An iddah-observing woman is not permitted to leave her home except out of necessity. It is forbidden for her to leave to visit her husband's grave, or to visit the sick, or to offer condolences. Similarly, she is not permitted to leave to attend to household needs as long as she is not in need of doing so.
