Is it obligatory to repeat the prayer after removing the wiped sock and not washing the feet, or is there an expiation for the invalidation of the prayer?

Removing the socks after wiping over them and before the expiration of the legally prescribed period is a matter of dispute among scholars. Some are of the view that it invalidates ablution (wudu'), while others hold that it does not invalidate it, and washing the feet is not required; rather, the ablution remains valid. This is the view preferred by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. However, if the legally prescribed period for wiping (one day and one night for a resident, and three days for a traveler) has ended, then both the ablution and the prayer become invalid.
