What is the ruling on alcohol?

Everything that covers the intellect is Khamr (intoxicant), and its use, sale, or purchase is forbidden, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Every intoxicant is unlawful." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) cursed ten individuals in relation to Khamr. Khamr is the mother of all evils; whoever drinks it will not have their prayers accepted for forty days, and whoever dies with it in their stomach dies a death of ignorance. Whoever is afflicted by it must repent with sincere repentance.
